What is Your Favorite Flavor?

By: Publius in Race Relations, Signs of the Times on 3:53 pm

I could not possibly add anything to this comment. Of all the days to utter such a comment, leave it to the Honorable Mayor “School bus” Nagin to let slip such a pristine example of buffoonery. Instead of paying homage to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Mayor Nagin has decided to make this day a parody.

MAYOR RAY NAGIN: We as black people, it’s time, it’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans and I don’t care what people are saying uptown or wherever they are, this city will be chocolate at the end of the day.

Words of Wisdon from the Independent Conservative.
Narcissistic Views declares that it dishonors the day.
PunditGuy is “not kidding.”
Right Voices calls it ‘ridiculous’ and ‘thoughtless.’

I’ll be chocolate, I’ll be chocolate. Oh, wait, you probably have to be a Negro to be chocolate, huh?

OK, I’ll be strawberry — no wait, I’m not a redskin.

Lemon? No, I don’t have the eyes.

Caramel — wait, not a wetback either. (My apologies to all LEGAL Hispanics who are sincere in their desire to become AMERICAN).

Guess I’ll have to be vanilla since I’m just a HONKY.

So, is this post more racist because I’m not a black mayor? Or are you libs hacked because of my utter abandonment of political correctness?

And Publius, if this comment generates enough traffic to increase your bandwidth, I won’t charge you for it OK?

    TD

On MLK Day, a day named in honor of a man who fought for equality, New Orleans Mayor and all-around bigot Ray Nagin, called for a “chocolate New Orelans” - in front of a crowd that had gathered at City Hall for a MLK Day march:

WOOOAH let me first begin by saying this “the comments of Ray Nagin are not the expressed views of the entire population of New Orleans or the several hundred million of “BLACK” people populating the face of the Earth.” With that said. I have some clarification on this issue.

    1. Ray Nagin was once a rather intelligent, vibrant, and “cool” public figure.
    2. Ray Nagin has lost his ever-flipping mind.
    3. I say again, his comments are not the expressed views of the entire population of black people.

For anyone that has lived in New Orleans in the city limits, I omit those area considered outside such as “Metairie, Harahan, and other areas that are not in the “parish” per se. There has always been a motley mixture of culture. With the actual city of New Orleans more “black” it is natural for a public official to play to the masses. Unfortunately, Nagin’s comments played only a mass of ignorance and rhetoric ill-needed in the reconstruction of the city. According to Joe Pope a writer with the Times Picayune, {http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-4/1137481512176100.xml} the comments of Nagin were to send a message to the Black population. A message that cautioned those in New Orleans the need of Blacks to step up and assist in the rebuilding to insure that “BLACK Culture” is not lost in the process. Funny enough, his comment has completely polarized an already murky, dysfunctional and racially charged process. Say it with me KIDS, DEMOGOGUE….

Talking about JAW-Dropping…I am in shock. I knew the man flipped out during Katrina, but I say he has had some mental break since then.
