Viva la Revolucion?

By: Publius in Domestic Issues, National Security, MSM, Immigration on 9:01 am

Something that the MSM fails to illuminate about the student protests transpiring in California. This is what your humble pundit deplores. Much of what has been bantered about pertaining to these protests centers around these individuals being the “backbone” of America and how immigrants have shaped this country throughout our history.

Yet, what is forgotten, or blatantly ignored, is the fact that the immigrants of the past came to America to begin anew and join this great nation. Contrast such with this decadent display of patriotism for Mexico. Not only are these lawbreakers granting higher authority to the Mexican flag, but they are spitting upon Old Glory.

I beg any of my readers to explain the rationale behind this, specifically, I would like to see someone logically defend such an action. I throw down the gauntlet for I firmly assert that there is none whatsoever.

I share the sentiment of Michelle Malkin,

I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington. The image of the American flag subsumed by another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.

The battle for borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn’t even begun.

Donkey Stomp,

It’s one thing to have pride for where you come from. However, this goes beyond being proud of their heritage. They disrepect the symbol of a country that they ran to for a better opportunity because their country could not provide that opportunity for them.

Euphoric Reality,

I spoke with the principal, Jeff Schwarz, of Montebello high school. He said that the students who did this to the flag were not from Montebello, but that there were about 800-1000 students from nearby Pioneer and El Rancho high schools that flooded his campus. Apparently, they were quite riotous nad almost pulled down efence to get on campus. There were only 6 police officers present. The police, nor the teachers on hand attempted to stop the students from violating the flag. The desecrated flag flew overhead while the 1000 students were on the campus and was not removed or corrected until after they left. When I asked, Mr. Schwarz said that the students were not interfered with for fear of retaliation. He said they would riot.

Wizbang!,

These protesters are saying that American laws and customs mean nothing to them; yet they demand to be supported by the American taxpayers.

So why should we give amnesty to them if they would rather fly the Mexican flag instead of Old Glory? (Thanks to Michelle and Publius Rendezvous for the pic). At this point these protests have lost all meaning because they’ve devolved into kids just….

this is crazy. the irony is that the picture is true. an upside down flag is commonly used as a distress symbol. when it comes to the “relationship” between the US and immigrants, there is a great amount of distress.

How is this country in distress? I do not see anything wrong with these people standing strong against neocons trying to purge anything of a darker shade.
